We are seeking a dedicated Material Handler to join our busy warehouse operations in Washington, D.C. As a Material Handler, you will be instrumental in managing the flow of goods throughout the facility, ensuring materials are accurately received, stored, and dispatched. This role is crucial for the efficiency of our logistics chain. You will be responsible for operating various material handling equipment, assisting with inventory control, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment. A strong emphasis is placed on Safety and adherence to all established procedures. This position requires physical stamina, as it involves considerable Lifting and movement. You will work closely with other warehouse staff and supervisors to ensure all operational targets are met. We expect our Material Handlers to be reliable, proactive, and committed to quality. Opportunities for cross-training and advancement within our logistics network are available for high performers. Your contribution to maintaining an efficient and safe workflow is highly valued. Ensure proper use of PPE at all times.
Responsibilities:
- Receive, identify, and store incoming materials accurately.
- Transport materials to and from designated areas using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment.
- Pick and prepare materials for outgoing shipments.
- Assist with inventory counts and reconciliation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage areas and the overall warehouse.
- Operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Adhere to all Safety guidelines and company policies.
- Identify and report any damaged materials or equipment.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize workflow and productivity.
- Engage in regular Lifting of materials, up to 50 lbs.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Proficiency in operating forklifts and pallet jacks is desirable.
- Ability to perform frequent Lifting and manual handling tasks.
- Understanding of warehouse Safety protocols.
- Familiarity with logistics and inventory systems is a plus.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
- Commitment to wearing required PPE.
