We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our logistics team in San Francisco, California. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness. You will work closely with warehouse staff and carriers to coordinate the dispatch of goods. The ideal candidate will have excellent administrative skills, a strong understanding of shipping procedures, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of service. Your role is critical to ensuring our products reach their destinations safely and on schedule. This role requires excellent organizational abilities and a proactive approach to problem-solving within the logistics framework.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare shipping labels and documentation accurately.
- Schedule and coordinate pickups with various shipping carriers.
- Track shipments and provide updates to relevant parties.
- Verify outgoing orders for accuracy before shipment.
- Inspect packages for damage and ensure proper packaging.
- Maintain shipping logs and records.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external carriers.
- Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations.
- Assist with inventory management as needed.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and utilize appropriate PPE.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree preferred.
- Proven experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar logistics role.
- Proficiency in shipping software and carrier portals.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
- Knowledge of shipping regulations and documentation.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
- Commitment to workplace safety and proper handling of materials.
Working Conditions:
This role operates within a warehouse and office environment. While primarily desk-based, occasional movement around the warehouse may be required. Adherence to safety guidelines, including the use of PPE when necessary, is essential. This is a key role within our San Francisco logistics operations.
