Our business sells through Squarespace, and we need to pull detailed PayPal transaction data into Airtable for accounting and reconciliation purposes.
Most of our other automations are working well. The primary focus of this role is PayPal but there will be later intergrations with Stripe and Shopify also.
Objective
Automatically send PayPal transaction data into Airtable with accurate financial breakdowns for accounting and reporting.
What We Need Pulled from PayPal
For each transaction:
• Customer first name
• Customer last name
• Phone (if available)
• Full billing/shipping address
• Product purchased
• Transaction ID
• Gross amount (USD or original currency)
• PayPal fee
• Net amount received
• USD to AUD exchange rate
• Converted AUD amount
• Date/time of transaction
We need this structured cleanly in Airtable so it can be used for:
• Accounting reconciliation
• Fee tracking
• Currency tracking
• Product-level reporting
Important Notes
• We understand PayPal's API limitations and want someone who truly understands the v2 PayPal API and webhooks.
• If necessary, we are open to using Make, Zapier, or a custom webhook/API solution.
• We need the PayPal fees and exchange rate captured accurately (not estimated if possible).
• This must be reliable and scalable.
Ideal Candidate
• Strong experience with PayPal REST API (v2 preferred)
• Experience pulling transaction_fee and exchange_rate data
• Comfortable working with JSON responses and parsing nested objects
• Experience with , Zapier, or custom API integrations
• Experience integrating with Airtable API
• Understands accounting logic and reconciliation
• Can explain clearly what is and isn't possible
Bonus
• Experience integrating Squarespace with payment data
• Experience building accounting automations
• Experience with multi-currency businesses
