Job Description Summary
The Precision Immunology at BC Children's Hospital () initiative is a multi-year, interdisciplinary research and clinical translation program that brings together investigators, clinicians, trainees, and core facilities to advance precision immunology approaches for pediatric health. Led by senior investigators at BC Children's Hospital Research Institute (BCCHR), the program integrates cellular immunotherapy, precision vaccinology, and immune diagnostics, while also supporting a coordinated trainee education and development strategy.
This position is responsible for providing comprehensive strategic support, oversight, and management across administrative, scientific, and programmatic aspects of the initiative. This includes coordination of research and clinical activities across multiple research groups, support for trainee education and community-building initiatives, facilitation of internal and external collaborations, and identification and development of internal and external funding opportunities to sustain and expand the program. The Program Manager will work closely with the Program Co-Leads and participating investigators to support the development and execution of a shared vision, strategy, and operational roadmap for , and will serve as a central point of coordination among investigators, trainees, clinical partners, core facilities, and external stakeholders.
Organizational Status
This position provides management and facilitation services to the Initiative. It provides leadership and direction and oversight for all research projects within in support of the program co-leads.
Work Performed
Provides leadership and direction in the management and coordination of the initiative, including research coordination, strategic planning, trainee support, funding development, communications, and program administration.
Research and Program Coordination
Provides leadership and project management support for research and clinical activities across the Cellular Immunotherapy, Precision Vaccinology, and Precision Immune Diagnostics programs.
Coordinates activities across multiple laboratories, clinical units, and core facilities to ensure alignment with program goals, timelines, and deliverables.
Supports logistics and coordination for translational and clinical studies and trials associated with the program, in collaboration with clinical research staff and investigators.
Organizes and supports governance and advisory committees, including preparation of agendas, briefing materials, minutes, and follow-up actions.
Acts as a central point of contact for internal and external stakeholders related to activities.
Strategic Planning and Program Development
Collaborates with Program Co-Leads to develop, implement, and monitor strategic plans, priorities, and timelines for the initiative.
Identifies risks, operational gaps, and opportunities for improvement, and develops recommendations to enhance program effectiveness and sustainability.
Supports development and implementation of evaluation frameworks and performance metrics to track scientific, training, and translational outcomes.
Trainee Development and Community Building
Leads coordination and implementation of trainee education, mentorship, and community-building initiatives, informed by ongoing assessment of trainee needs.
Supports trainee committees, seminar series, journal clubs, workshops, and visiting speaker programs, and facilitates collaboration with internal and external trainee groups.
Coordinates administration of trainee awards, travel grants, and training opportunities associated with the program.
Develops and maintains centralized communication tools for trainees, including calendars, mailing lists, and program updates.
Grant Development, Funding, and Reporting
Identifies internal and external funding opportunities to support and expand research, training, and infrastructure activities.
Leads and supports preparation of grant applications, letters of intent, and concept proposals in collaboration with investigators.
Prepares progress reports, impact summaries, and briefing materials for funders, institutional leadership, and oversight committees.
Supports financial planning and high-level tracking of program-related budgets and funded activities in collaboration with investigators and administrative partners.
Communications and Partnerships
Facilitates effective communication among investigators, trainees, institutional partners, and external collaborators.
Supports knowledge translation activities, including symposia, workshops, reports, and stakeholder engagement.
Liaises with BCCHR communications, facilities, IT, and research support units as required to support program objectives.
Consequence of Error/Judgement
This position must use strong organizing and prioritizing skills to effectively and efficiently manage the administration of the initiative. An error or the impact of a decision regarding administrative activities could result in problems, grievances, lawsuits, and negatively impact on the institute's research reputation and will have an impact on the program's budget. The position entails a high level of confidentiality and responsibility
Supervision Received
Position reports directly to the program co-leads, Drs. Manish Sadarangani and Megan Levings. Works with wide latitude.
Supervision Given
Provides functional direction to the Research Staff and to Trainees. May manage administrative support staff.
Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one's own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
PhD in Immunology, Biomedical Science, Genetics, or a related discipline, with demonstrated understanding of immunology or translational biomedical research.
Minimum of five years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, in research coordination, program management, or scientific administration within an academic or clinical research environment.
Post-Doctoral Fellowship experience in the area of Immunology would be an asset.
Experience supporting multi-investigator, interdisciplinary research programs and coordinating activities across diverse stakeholder groups.
Demonstrated experience with grant development, including identification of funding opportunities and preparation of research proposals and reports.
Experience working with graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, or clinical trainees, including coordination of training or professional development activities.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality reports and communicate effectively with scientific, clinical, and administrative audiences.
High level of initiative, judgment, and ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team environment.
Familiarity with clinical research processes, ethics, and translational research environments is an asset.
