Nebraska Wesleyan University seeks applications for an IT Applications Administrator. The position is responsible for the planning, implementation and on-going operation of a wide range of critical University computing services. These services include Email Services, cloud applications, security, and authentication services including local Active Directory and Entra ID Services. The position collaborates with other professional staff in the university to manage multiple other systems needed by the university including but not limited to the Student Information Systems (SIS) and Learning Management Systems (LMS) systems.
This is a full-time, benefit eligible position which includes a comprehensive package including health, vision and dental insurance benefits, retirement benefits, a generous holiday schedule, and undergraduate tuition remission for employee’s dependents among other benefits.
*Responsibilities:*
* Assists with the development of contracts for equipment, services, and maintenance.
* Recommends purchase, configuration, and installation of new software for the University. Integrates new devices, systems, services and software with the organization’s current infrastructure.
* Setup, configure, and maintain cloud and hybrid systems, Microsoft 365, and related services.
* Resolve Azure AD issues relation to Microsoft 365 and Active Directory.
* Setup, configure and maintain backup systems and services.
* Setup, configure and maintain the Universities IdP and authentication services (AD, LDAP, SAML/OIDC) along with IdP integration for all University supported services and applications.
* Manages user accounts in collaboration with the SIS administrator. Manages groups, permissions, for users, departments, divisions and organizations to access University maintained applications, storage, servers and services.
* Responds to system emergencies to ensure data access for users. Assists users with problems regarding access to system services and data.
* Advises on departmental budget and recommends purchase orders and expenditures.
* Serves on ad hoc committees as necessary.
* Assists in preparing grant proposals for information technology related grants.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
*Qualifications:*
* Must have in-depth knowledge of at least one programming and/or scripting language with working knowledge of others. Preferred languages include Bash, Perl, Python, JavaScript, Go, or PowerShell.
* Demonstrated experience with:
\*the administration of SaaS systems in an enterprise environment.
\*SAML stack and enterprise IdP concepts and implementations (Preferred knowledge in several of the following: Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Shibboleth, Auth0, Google Workspace, OneLogin, or Ping Identity.
\*XDR/EDR endpoint security on Windows.
\*Managing SharePoint/OneDrive, Entra ID and other Microsoft 365 Services.
\*Okta.
\*Managing Academic or Enterprise licensed Office 365 and Microsoft Entra ID.
\*Managing and using ticketing systems, preferably Zendesk.
\*Backup solutions.
\*Sophos endpoint security systems on Windows, Mac and Linux
* Knowledge of:
\*AD, LDAP, and Radius based authentication.
\*Microsoft IIS and MSSQL Server.
* Ability to work independently.
* Must have strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
* Demonstrated oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

* TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, subnetting protocals: 2 years (Preferred)

* Server environments, (Active Directory, Group Policy): 2 years (Required)
