We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Shipping Clerk for our busy logistics hub in New York City, New York. In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing the dispatch of goods, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all shipping processes. Your responsibilities will include preparing shipping documents, coordinating with carriers, and verifying outgoing shipments. A strong focus on safety is essential, and adherence to all warehouse safety procedures, including the correct use of PPE, is mandatory. This position requires excellent communication skills, proficiency in administrative tasks, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced urban environment. You will work closely with the warehouse team to ensure timely and accurate deliveries to our customers. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process shipping labels, manifests, and other necessary documentation.
- Coordinate with various shipping carriers to schedule pickups and track shipments.
- Verify the accuracy of outgoing shipments against order details.
- Inspect packages for damage or defects before dispatch.
- Maintain organized shipping records and filing systems.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments and external partners regarding shipping status.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and utilize appropriate PPE.
- Assist with general warehouse duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree preferred.
- Proven experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar administrative/logistics role.
- Proficiency in shipping software and order management systems.
- Strong understanding of shipping regulations and carrier procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
- Commitment to following safety guidelines and wearing necessary PPE.
