Position Summary:
The General Maintenance Technician will either be a licensed Ski Lift Mechanic or be working towards a Ski Lift Mechanic - Certification. The General Maintenance Technician is responsible for startup, shut down, and troubleshooting, repairs and routine maintenance of the funicular. In addition, the General Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring that the upper & lower landing facilities are attractive and in working order. The Technician will provide preventative, corrective, emergency, cosmetic and routine maintenance as well as provide a number of technical maintenance services for the upper and lower landings. This position will include such duties as painting, cleaning, repairing, renovating and remodeling.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs repairs and maintenance of the Niagara City Cruises Funicular as permitted by their license and skills passport
Actively working towards and demonstrating progress towards Ski Lift Mechanic certification if not already certified
Completes start up and shut down procedures
Operate the funicular as required
Maintains the funicular to manufacturer's and Technical Standards and Safety Authority (T.S.S.A.) specifications
Routinely inspects all equipment and areas of the facilities for unsafe conditions
Reports any and all concerns with equipment to the Manager, Facilities
Ensures the safe and reliable operation of all systems, machinery, and equipment under their care with due regard for the Niagara City Cruises (NCC) ISO Respect Management System (RMS)
Identifies and troubleshoots any deficiencies and responds accordingly
Maintain all equipment to manufacturers specification
Knows and understands internal policy and external regulatory requirements that relate to the position and department
Operates large scale machinery such as forklifts and telehandler (as required)
Possesses the ability to self-manage on small projects
Responds to work order requests as needed in a timely and accurate manner
Communicates updates on equipment repairs, shutdowns, and restarts to appropriate parties
Participates in emergency drills in accordance with regulatory, contractual, and ISO RMS requirements
Participates in safety meetings in conformance with NCC policy, to ensure a routinely efficient and safe operation at all times and the proper use of equipment during any possible emergency
Maintains logs, paying particular attention to proper recording of incidents and irregularities
Utilizes maintenance software to log maintenance tasks
Assists with maintaining inventory of spares and consumables
Ensures a clean workplace throughout the day, at the beginning and end of shifts
Performs various duties such as cleaning, painting, and troubleshooting issues
Supports Marine, Guest Services, Food & Beverage, IT, and all other departments as required
Works with a safety mindset by following all safety policies, procedures and safety measures (i.e. PPE).  Identifies and brings forward risks, hazards and opportunities on the job.  Actively participates in health and safety in the workplace
Maintains a high level of customer service
Maintains a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (refer to appearance standards in employee handbook)
Reports to work on time and for all scheduled shifts
Understands all Niagara City Cruises policies and procedures relating to the employee's role within the company
Maintains any applicable licenses and certifications
Completes any other duties as required
Requirements & Qualifications:
O.S.S.D or equivalent as recognized by the Ministry of Education
Must hold a valid Ontario Drivers License, class G2 or G
Must have a Ski Lift Mechanic license (minimum SLM C) or be willing to work on obtaining the Ski Lift Mechanic Certificate as recognized by the TSSA
Minimum two (2) years' experience in facilities and maintenance role preferably in a hospitality environment
General knowledge of electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems
WHIMIS (training provided)
Working knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out Systems
Strong problem solving
Experience with ISO compliance & standards considered an asset
Must be willing to work all shifts including days/evenings shifts including weekends and holidays
Ability to reach, bend, stoop, wipe, push, pull, move and lift up to 50 pounds (23 kilograms)
Walk, stand, sit and work in all types of weather conditions for extended periods
Continually and repeatedly perform functions indoors and outdoors
If required, wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (i.e. non-slip shoes, gloves, weather appropriate dress attire, sun protection.
