Position Overview

The Shop Lead Hand - Heavy Equipment Technician plays a vital role in overseeing the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment at Professional Excavators & Construction Inc. This position is responsible for supervising shop operations, leading a team of technicians, and ensuring that all equipment is maintained to the highest standards for safety and efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, leadership abilities, and a commitment to providing exceptional service within the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of heavy equipment technicians in the shop.
  • Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on a variety of heavy equipment and trucks.
  • Ensure that all work is completed safely and in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Assist with scheduling and assigning work to technicians, ensuring timely completion of repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and work completed.
  • Monitor inventory levels of parts and supplies, and assist with ordering as needed.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians to enhance their skills and career development.
  • Communicate with management regarding equipment status, repair updates, and any operational issues.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a heavy equipment technician, with a minimum of 5 years in the field.
  • Previous supervisory or lead technician experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy equipment systems, tools, and repair techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate or equivalent trade certification.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, and to train and mentor others.
