The Power Systems Engineer Manager provides technical leadership and hands-on engineering support for power system studies and electrical engineering services across Canada while developing, managing and mentoring a team of engineers. He also needs to provide strategic leadership to promote these Services across Canada working closely with our Sales teams. This role is responsible for proposing and delivering high-quality engineering services and solutions, meeting customer and project deadlines, and serving as the technical interface with clients throughout the project lifecycle.

Essential Responsibilities
Working with the sales team, help identify and develop new customer opportunities
Provide technical and engineering resource input to new business proposals, bids, and project opportunities.
Perform and oversee power system engineering work including arc flash studies, short-circuit studies, protective device coordination studies, front-end engineering, and electrical equipment asset condition assessments.
Review, approve, and stamp electrical drawings, calculations, and reports as required.
Manage overall engineering workload and staffing to meet project schedules, quality standards, and customer deadlines.
Serve as the primary technical interface with customers during project execution, including scope clarification, technical reviews, and issue resolution.
Lead engineering review of customer technical specifications and translate requirements into safe, compliant, and high-quality designs and deliverables.
Direct, review, analyze, and document engineering studies, field tests, and assessments; recommend improvements or changes to methods, procedures, or objectives as needed.
Administer and review engineering work performed by third-party consultants and determine the technical adequacy and analytical soundness of their methods and results.
Review and approve engineering designs, reports, and subsequent design changes or enhancements.
Consult and negotiate with customers to finalize engineering scopes, technical requirements, schedules, and deliverables.
Present engineering plans, progress updates, and technical findings to customers, project stakeholders, and internal leadership.
Establish engineering budgets, monitor actual project costs, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions to maintain financial performance.
Negotiate with third-party engineering suppliers and service providers to achieve optimal technical and commercial outcomes.
Maintain current knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and emerging technologies relevant to power systems engineering.
Perform administrative and oversight functions including proposal approvals, expenditure authorization, and enforcement of company policies and procedures.
Establish goals, objectives, and priorities for engineering staff; monitor performance, provide coaching and feedback, and support professional development.
Drive quality, accountability, and on-time delivery within the Engineering Department through effective delegation and workload management.
Lead the interface between the Engineering Department and other internal business units.
Lead and support the resolution of complex technical and project execution issues.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
10+ years of related engineering experience, including team leadership experience directing a team of engineers.
Registered Engineer (P. Eng.) in a Canadian Province
Preferred Qualifications
Master degree in Electrical Engineering
Registered Engineer (P. Eng.) with APEGA
5+ years of management experience
Skills, Abilities & Other Requirements
Knowledge of medium and low voltage power distribution equipment
Knowledge of ANSI, IEEE, NEC and other industry applicable standards and codes
Knowledge of power system analysis and associated calculations and tools
Familiarity with power system components and their application/specification
Familiarity with computer aided design tools including CAD; Parametric and BIM modeling tools
Must have excellent organization, supervisory, managerial and leadership skills to manage a team of engineers and technical staff.
Familiarity with ISO policies and safety regulations
Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills as well as interpersonal skills
Must have proven multitasking skills and can work in fast-paced, high demand environment.
Must have excellent analytical and computational skills.

Working & Environmental Conditions
Travel is required for this position. The amount of travel is estimated to be 25% of the time to customer sites.
The customer sites can be refineries, utility substation yards or even offshore platforms.
The position will require working in an office environment as well
