Napa/Traction is a multi million-dollar automotive parts distributor operating multiple locations across Saskatchewan with over 100 employees.
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead our finance and accounting operations. This role is responsible for financial reporting, internal controls, cash flow management, inventory accounting, budgeting, and supporting ownership with financial insight and strategic analysis.
This is a leadership role requiring strong operational discipline, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-location environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership
· Oversee all accounting operations (GL, AR, AP, payroll, fixed assets, inventory)
· Produce accurate monthly financial statements for all locations
· Consolidate financial reporting and analyze performance by branch.
· Develop and maintain internal controls and financial policies
· Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable Canadian regulations
Inventory & Cost Control
· Monitor and analyze inventory valuation and turns
· Reconcile inventory variances and support physical inventory processes
· Track gross margin performance by category and location
· Support purchasing and pricing analysis
Cash Flow & Banking
· Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital
· Oversee banking relationships and financing arrangements
· Monitor credit risk and receivables aging
· Ensure timely remittance of taxes and statutory obligations
Budgeting & Forecasting
· Lead annual budgeting process
· Prepare rolling forecasts
· Provide financial modelling and scenario analysis
· Identify cost-saving and efficiency opportunities
Team Leadership
· Supervises and develop accounting/administrative staff
· Improve systems and processes
· Support branch managers with financial literacy and KPI reporting
· Assist ownership with operational financial insight
Compliance & Risk Management
· Oversee external accountant relationship (year-end review, tax fillings)
· Ensure payroll, GST/PST, and other regulatory compliance
· Maintain appropriate internal controls and segregation of duties
Qualifications
· CPA designation (preferred) or equivalent experience
· 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
· Experience in multi-location retail, distribution, or automotive industry preferred
· Strong inventory accounting experience
· Experience managing teams
· Advanced Excel skills, ERP/accounting system experience required
