Stoke the fire Cabin's wildfire (team) is growing

Cabin Resource Management Ltd. has built a foundation of experience and dedication to quality and innovative solutions in forestry, heritage, wildfire planning, and resource analysis. We are currently looking to add a Senior Wildfire Planning Technician to our Wildfire Planning team.

The Fun Stuff.

The Wildfire industry can be rigid. Long days. Intense schedules. Ego-driven consulting culture. We built something different.

At Cabin, flexibility isn't marketing language; it's how we function.

What That Actually Means:

  • Field days around 10 hours
  • Reasonable camp ratios
  • Recovery time intentionally built into projects
  • Flexible start arrangements
  • Remote transition options
  • Relocation support

And Culture?

  • We're values-driven and modest.
  • We like the work we do.
  • We are not serious all the time (trust us, we can take a joke)

What You'll Find:

  • Dogs in the office and field
  • Camp conditions that don't give you "the ick" and one could say are the luxurious side of accommodations
  • A team that supports each other
  • No hierarchy theatre
  • We're high-energy, super inclusive, and 100% here for the ghouls, gays, and they's - come as you are
  • Wage and biannual profit-share based on experience, competency and length of service
  • Boot, training and professional development allowance
  • Per diem for out-of-town shifts
  • Extended medical, dental, and RRSP contributions
  • Flexible holidays and 20 cm pow rule for winter shredding
  • Up to 5 weeks of paid vacation annually
  • Divisional reset day, we like to find balance and integrate team building with exploration of the beautiful areas where we work and play in BC. Wine tours, food tours, and recreation opportunities like no other.

The Boring Stuff.

Responsibilities:

As a Senior Wildfire Planning Technician you will be responsible for the following:

Assisting with the development of Fuel Management Prescriptions, Community Wildfire Resiliency Plans, Wildland Urban Interface Wildfire Risk Reduction Plans, Burn Plans, and more
Helping our wildfire operations and/or forestry divisions as needed
Working with a Wildfire Project Manager to lead projects or sub-components of projects within the wildfire planning division

What we are looking for:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience developing wildfire management projects in BC such as FMP's, CWRP's, and tactical plans
  • Wildland wildfire fighting background helpful, wildfire behaviour courses a super bonus
  • Forestry development in BC including, but not limited to, cut block layout, riparian and ecological assessments, road layout, and site plan writing
  • ArcGIS Pro prowess, UAV mini drone (< 250 g) license, and/or fire behaviour modeling proficiency
  • Holding RPF or RFT status with the FPBC is an asset, will consider those who are working to achieve their letters
  • Adventurous, self-starter that works well in small teams
  • Willing to travel throughout BC

To Apply.

  • Send us your resume.
  • Tell us why you like us.
  • Send us a meme related to the industry (preferred)

The above list is a collection of useful skills for our growing wildfire planning team, but we don't expect any candidate to check every box.
