Community Resource Worker - SUPPORTED CLUSTER HOUSING

New Directions is a social service agency offering a wide range of resources and services that foster people's hopes and dreams in their communities.  

Supported Cluster Housing (SCH) is one of the many services offered by New Directions. Cluster Housing provides independent living supports to people who may have intellectual disabilities and/or mental health issues, and who experience barriers to living independently in the community.

We are currently seeking a Community Resource Worker to join our team. Position details are as follows:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday-3:00pm to 11:00pm

Job Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

Monitoring and securing housing buildings to ensure the safety of all tenants

Supporting individuals through crisis situations, and who may be in conflict with the law and struggling with addictions.

Ensuring visitors do not enter the buildings

Responding to crisis situations and/or contacting 911 (if visitors do not leave or in case of emergency)

Ensuring tenants do not damage the property

Conducting thorough regular and exit walk throughs of the buildings, reporting anything out of the ordinary, and ensuring doors are all locked, and the areas are secure

Completing detailed reports and shift logs upon completion of every shift

Empowering individuals to maintain independent living situations in a cluster housing model.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent. Preference will be given to candidates with post-secondary education in the area(s) of disability services, addictions, mental health, and related education.

Minimum 1 year of experience working with people with intellectual disabilities is required

Experience working with people with mental health barriers preferred

Effective problem-solving ability & strong communication skills

The ability to work independently and as a part of a team

First Aid/CPR and NVCI training will be provided.

Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License and access to a vehicle with the ability to transport participants when needed.

The salary range for this 80-hour bi-weekly position is $ to $ per hour, dependent upon education and/or experience. A full benefits package (which includes Health and Dental Benefits, Long Term Disability Benefits, and a Pension Plan) is provided to permanent full-time staff.  The anticipated start date for this position is March 2nd, 2026.

The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Record and Adult/Child Abuse Registry Checks; and must supply a current driver's abstract when a Driver's License is required.

This position is a part of the UFCW Local 832 Union Collective Agreement
