Position Summary

Responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies and plans that help achieve the College's Strategic Plan and contribute to the success of the college programs and initiatives. This includes acting as a lead communications resource or support for large mission-critical projects from conception to completion with measurable objectives that include strategies for both issues and change management. Also responsible for the development and implementation of a social media strategy to engage with key audiences. 

What you'll do at OCP 

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts across the College to develop effective, measurable strategies to support internal and external communications and change management for key initiatives and projects
  • Support virtual or in-person engagement opportunities, such as town halls, focus groups and webinars, to help strengthen important OCP relationships
  • Lead the development of a social media strategy to engage with key audiences
  • Provide communications support for emerging issues, including key message development, FAQs, and media/social media monitoring
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with staff at all levels of the College, and provide timely, expert communication counsel that meets the needs of the College and its various audiences
  • Use demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills to develop innovative solutions to communication challenges and opportunities
  • Translate complex legal or regulatory jargon into clear, understandable language for registrants and members of the public
  • Conduct research and environmental scans as necessary to inform communication planning 
  • Write clear, accurate and compelling content for a variety of channels that reflects OCP's style and brand voice
  • Continually track, analyze, and report on the results of communications initiatives and glean key learnings/ insights including making recommendations from analysis for ongoing process and performance improvement of the Communications function
  • Provide detailed analysis of data points to identify trends or opportunities for enhancing OCP communication activities
  • Develop branded graphic assets including infographics, images, animations and video
  • Support routine content distribution through digital newsletters, website, social media, blog and e-blasts
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned by Manager, Communications

What we're looking for

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills and ability to draft clear, professional, and compelling communications
  • Experience in managing communications projects with multiple partners and shifting priorities and providing communications leadership on organizational key initiatives as assigned by the Communications Manager
  • Experience in providing internal communications advice and leading the development of communications plans and strategies
  • Experience in providing feedback to and working with colleagues and external vendors to develop communications products 
  • Ability to take complex ideas and create clear and compelling content, particularly when translating policy- and practice-focused content into meaningful messaging and information that can be used by registrants, system partners and members of the public
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and relationships with internal and external partners and work collaboratively to achieve broad organizational goals
  • Experience writing for electronic media such as websites, e-newsletters, social media, videos, and online learning applications
  • Experience managing multimedia/ digital projects with multiple system partners and shifting priorities
  • Experience managing social media channels for an organization and developing and managing social media content for those channels
  • Experience developing and implementing paid social media campaigns, with some experience and knowledge in SEO/ SEM and online copywriting 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivation and strong organizational and project management skills to efficiently and effectively manage workload, deal effectively with multiple demands, and maintain composure while progressing toward desired outcomes
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated proficiency with contemporary online tools, applications, and multimedia platforms, including content management systems, and tools/ software relating to email marketing and social media

What experience we prefer

Education

  • University Degree in a related field such as Communications, English, Journalism, Public Relations, Political Science, Health Communications or equivalent

Work Experience 

  • Must have 5-7 years of related experience
