The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is the statutory body responsible for regulating Ontario's capital markets in accordance with the mandate established in the provincial Securities Act and the Commodity Futures Act. The mandate of the OSC is to provide protection to investors from unfair, improper or fraudulent practices, to foster fair, efficient and competitive capital markets and confidence in the capital markets, to foster capital formation, and to contribute to the stability of the financial system and the reduction of systemic risk. This mandate is performed through policy, operational, and enforcement activities. The OSC also contributes to national and global securities regulation development.

We offer a diverse, fair, and flexible work environment and take pride in our challenging and rewarding work.

As a Co-op Student on our Architecture, you'll help the organization understand, organize, and manage its data so teams can work more effectively and make better decisions. You'll support projects that define how data is collected, used, and shared, and you'll help document processes, standards, and governance practices. This role is perfect for a business student who enjoys organizing information, improving processes, and helping ensure data is reliable and used responsibly. You'll get hands-on experience with data governance, business architecture, and cross-team collaboration—while learning how organizations build trust in their data.

What You'll Be Doing

Understanding and Documenting Business Processes

  • Help map out how different teams work today and how they would like things to work in the future.
  • Join meetings and workshops to take notes, observe, and capture important details.
  • Create simple diagrams, summaries, or user stories to help others understand business needs.

Supporting Governance Activities

  • Help prepare materials for governance meetings (e.g., summaries of requests, templates, checklists).
  • Support tracking new business requests and ensuring they follow our internal processes.
  • Help keep governance documents organized and up to date.

Supporting Data Governance Activities

  • Help document data definitions, business terms, and data standards so that teams use consistent language and rules.
  • Assist in identifying areas where data quality or consistency needs improvement.
  • Support the creation of data policies, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Help track data-related requests and ensure they follow our governance process.

Documenting Business Processes and Data Flows

  • Work with business teams to understand where data comes from, how it is used, and what problems need solving.
  • Create simple diagrams, process maps, and summaries to illustrate how data moves through the organization.
  • Participate in interviews, workshops, and meetings to capture business needs related to data.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with business units, data stewards, and platform teams to collect information and clarify requirements.
  • Help prepare slide decks, summaries, diagrams, or documentation for governance meetings.
  • Join Agile ceremonies to support prioritization and ensure data governance considerations are included.

What You Bring

  • Currently enrolled in a Business, Business Technology Management, Economics, Public Administration, or related program.
  • Curious about how organizations structure their processes and make decisions.
  • Strong communication skills—you can write clearly and summarize ideas well.
  • Good analytical skills and comfortable organizing information.
  • Enjoy working with others and learning from different teams.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and open to working in a changing environment.
  • Experience with process mapping or basic business analysis is helpful, but we'll teach you what you need to know.

This opportunity is considered to be a business-critical role supporting the ISDS Department.
