Job Overview:
- This is an entry-level position as a Border Patrol Agent with the US Customs and Border Protection.

Responsibilities:
The duties of a BPA include but are not limited to detecting and questioning individuals suspected of violating immigration laws inspecting documents and possessions determining citizenship or violations preventing apprehending undocumented noncitizens smugglers at or near borders maintaining surveillance from covert positions using infrared scopes during night operations interpreting following tracks marks other physical evidence illegal entry persons contraband performing farm building traffic city patrols transportation checks patrolling international boundary coastal waterways using vehicles horses vessels etc for accomplishment USBP Mission
Skills Requirements:
The GL-5 grade level requires one year general work experience demonstrating ability take charge make sound decisions maintain composure stressful situations learn regulations methods techniques classroom training onjob instruction gather concise information questioning observation examination documents records OR bachelor degree successfully completed full fouryear course study any field leading bachelor degree accredited college university combination Experience Education calculated resume official unofficial transcripts submitted application.
The GL-7 grade level requires specialized work experience showing skills necessary make sound judgments decisions use firearms deal effectively people courteous tactful manner law enforcement matters analyze information rapidly prompt decisions expected apply these skills law enforcement capacity criminal code enforcement determine violations laws correctional rehabilitation work involving criminal offenders security military education substitution superior academic achievement class standing GPA honor society membership graduatelevel education related field study.
