Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site position for a Human Resources Manager based in Ottawa, ON. The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for overseeing recruitment, employee relations, and compliance with labor laws. Key tasks include developing and updating HR policies, managing payroll and benefits administration, fostering employee engagement, conducting training and development programs, and addressing performance management processes. The role also involves serving as a primary point of contact for HR-related inquiries and contributing to strategic workforce planning initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 3- 5 years of experience
  • HR Operations: Experience in recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, payroll administration, and employee benefits management.
  • Employee Relations & Compliance: Strong knowledge of employment laws, workplace regulations, conflict mediation, and personnel management.
  • Training & Development: Skills in designing, implementing, and evaluating employee training programs and organizational development initiatives.
  • Communication & Leadership: Proven ability to manage, lead teams, and facilitate effective communication at all organizational levels.
  • Strategic Planning: Experience in workforce planning, policy development, and aligning HR strategies with business goals.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; HR certification (e.g., CHRL, CHRP, SHRM) is a strong asset.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems ( Bamboo HR) and productivity tools; familiarity with employment practices specific to Canada and the US.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and work directly with the management of CSSIG and affiliated companies;
  • Lead and conduct all activities toward candidate origination, recruitment, selection, hiring and retention, including but not limited to direct solicitations, job postings, interviews, drafting and execution of employment agreements, etc.
  • Onboarding and offboarding through HRIS software.
  • Training and development - including but not limited to technician certification management, scheduling of training and certification.
  • Performance Management - including but not limited to performance reviews, disciplinary action documentation.
  • Proactively use and manage the Employer's social media profiles.
  • Build relationships with colleges and participate in job fairs.
  • Assist with occasional technicians' management issues, including but not limited to issued related to payroll, travel and accommodation, PPE, health and safety.
  • Periodically review, update, and implement all policies, programs and training as required and making sure they adhere to Ontario compliance standards.
  • Responsible for the oversight and implementation of all health and safety matters across the organization, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and promoting a safe work environment.
  • Handle terminations and conduct risk management assessments to mitigate potential legal issues.
  • Oversee immigration programs such as LMIA and CUSMA for Canada and the USA.
  • Other administrative duties, as assigned.
