About the Team

The Culture Creative team supports associate engagement initiatives, internal communications, human resources, and talent brand. We specialize in event planning and production, as well as strategic content and design to bring various teams' ideas to life in innovative and fresh ways. 

About the Role

In this role, you will inspire and drive change, while developing and executing creative strategies that bring our brand to life both internally and externally. You will be instrumental in shaping our company culture by owning the internal brand narrative and extending our reach by representing our creative vision at key external touchpoints, including trade shows and industry events. A key priority will be to create compelling, high-impact creative content to attract and engage top-tier talent. Furthermore, you will be instrumental in developing thought leadership and content that supports broader enterprise initiatives. You know the formula for developing brand-building, breakthrough creative that drives results. And you'll keep the team ahead of the curve.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Creative Strategy & Brand Leadership

    • Take creative briefs and own the end-to-end process from creative concepting to execution, providing creative print and digital solutions that ensure deliverables meet the highest standards and the project's core objective(s)

    • Design and implement scalable creative systems and workflows that maximize output and enable the team to produce high-quality work at speed.

    • Challenge our thinking on our current creative output, while still championing Capital One Canada's brand guidelines

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Elevate both external and internal communications efforts by translating complex concepts into creative solutions that meet business & stakeholder needs

    • Partner with senior leaders to ensure the brand is represented consistently across all touchpoints (ex: internal Town Hall presentations, external thought leadership opportunities)

  • Shaping Talent Brand

    • Enhance recruitment efforts by attracting talent through high-impact creative

    • Harness powerful storytelling opportunities across various channels (ex: long-form video, LinkedIn ads, website content) to share our associate experience & demonstrate why we are a top employer in Canada

  • Event Strategy & Logistics

    • Play a leadership role in planning & producing large-scale internal events that are paramount to Capital One Canada's culture and morale

    • Responsible for how our brand is creatively represented at trade shows & like events, which often serve as prospective talent and industry people's first impression of Capital One Canada 

    • Be comfortable shaping event logistics, leveraging tight operational systems to drive efficiency and scalability

  • People Leadership

    • Lead and inspire a team of creative talent (graphic designers, copywriters, project managers) to develop strategically-grounded, insight-driven creative.

    • Empower and inspire associates through coaching and help them develop in their careers.

    • Partner with external agencies, freelancers, and production vendors to execute specialized creative projects

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in creative direction and/or marketing communications, with a deep understanding and passion for elevated visual design and effective copywriting 

  • 5+ years of proven experience in internal event planning & production

  • 3+ years of people leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Visual Arts/Graphic Design/Copywriting, Marketing, or other related field, or equivalent experience

  • Highly proficient in Figma and Adobe Suite (Illustrator, After Effects, Photoshop, InDesign), 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a creative team and manage multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

  • Advanced project management skills with the ability to coach direct reports on job-specific skills, as well as general competencies 

  • Skilled in relationship management, ideally with experience managing senior leadership, and multiple vendors 

  • Deep production expertise across both print and digital landscapes, with a proven track record of overseeing complex asset delivery.

  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates your sense of visual storytelling, creative thinking and a wide range of design abilities

  • Confidence to ask hard questions and push into uncharted territories – and not defaulting to the status quo before exploring new paths and quantifying risk / reward

  • Strong ability to drive right and left brain smarts – you value creativity but you can also think strategically to action valuable insights

  • Strong communicator — both written and verbal - with the capacity to influence all levels of an organization
