Successful applicants will gain deep insight into shipbuilding operations, finance, engineering, design, project management, and supply chain through various rotation assignments. This program integrates hands-on rotation, formal learning, and business exposure with the goal of developing your knowledge in shipbuilding.

Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site at our Pemberton Avenue Campus, North Vancouver.

What you'll do

Successful applicants will participate in rotational assignments designed to build your understanding of the shipbuilding business. Rotations may include:

  • Engineering
  • Operations
  • Planning
  • Program Management
  • Production Support
  • Supply Chain
  • Finance

In each rotation, you will spend 3-6 months developing new skills, while contributing to state-of-the-art shipbuilding projects. There may also be a 3-month rotation in Victoria.

Tasks may include:

  • Lead and/or collaborates as a team member on multiple small to medium-scale projects that drive operational efficiency, innovation, or continuous improvement as assigned by each rotation department.
  • Complete operational tasks and projects assigned by each line manager.
  • Contributes to the continuous improvement of business process management and project management methodologies, ensuring alignment with Seaspan's priorities.
  • Conducts and/or facilitates processes and data analysis to support decision-making, completion of key deliverables and project milestones.
  • Works closely with business units on projects, drives adoption of processes, and enhances cross-service functionality.
  • Contribute insights and recommendations that support Seaspan's mission to advance shipbuilding excellence.
  • At the end of the program, you will be offered a permanent position based on availability, suitability, and performance. What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Professional qualifications such as registered Engineer, Supply Chain, Project Management certification, or capable of achieving Professional qualification an asset.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in engineering, manufacturing, operations, supply chain, logistics, or related discipline.
  • Experience in shipbuilding, maritime, or heavy manufacturing sectors is an asset.
  • Commitment to growing knowledge and expertise in shipbuilding.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to develop solutions to complex technical problems.
  • Demonstrate initiative and accountability by managing deliverables, meeting deadlines, and maintaining sound judgement with minimal need for supervision.
  • Experience working in cross-functional team environments with complex organizational structures.
  • Experience working on projects with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to take initiative, ownership, and drive tasks to completion.
  • Good organizational skills and problem-solving abilities, including the ability to work in changing environments and establish priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including written, verbal, listening, and presentation.

  • Ability to commit to a 24-month leadership development full-time program
  • Availability and willingness to work in different locations within North Vancouver, including the yard, construction sites, offices and production floors, or offsite locations within Greater Vancouver.

The estimated salary for this position is $84,600 – $121,000. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate's skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.

This position may involve defense articles and/or technical data regulated by the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations ("ITAR") and the U.S. Arms Export Control Act. In compliance with ITAR, the successful candidate will be subject to a security clearance through the Canadian Controlled Goods Program as regulated by the Controlled Goods Regulations and Defense Production Act.
