Job Description:

TD Asset Management (TDAM), a member of TD Bank Financial Group, is a leading North American investment manager offering progressive investment solutions to both institutional and individual investors. For over two decades, the organization has established competitive market positions in active, quantitative, and passive portfolio management.  As of September 30, 2025, TDAM and its affiliates manage over $500 billion  in assets on behalf of pension, insurance, endowment/foundation, and corporate clients, as well as high-net worth clients and retail mutual funds.

In attaining this client commitment, TDAM has built one of Canada's largest and most respected investment management and research teams with more than 220 Portfolio Managers, Associate Portfolio Managers, Traders and Analysts.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer with strong Python expertise and deep experience of building scalable cloud-based data pipelines. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing, implementing and maintaining modern data platforms, as well aa migrating on-premises SQL Server workloads to cloud environments. This role requires a strong understanding of data architecture, automation and reliable data delivery practices to support analytics and business intelligence initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines using Python and modern data engineering practices
  • Build and optimize cloud-native data solutions on platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP
  • Develop automated ETL/ELT workflows for structured and semi-structured data sources
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, monitoring and operational reliability across pipelines
  • Collaborate with researchers and portfolio managers to deliver high-quality datasets
  • Optimize performance, cost efficiency and scalability of cloud data infrastructure
  • Maintain documentation and enforce best practices in data engineering and DevOps processes

Required Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in Python for data engineering and automation
  • Proven experience building cloud-based data pipelines in Azure, AWS or GCP
  • Solid knowledge of SQL, relational database design and query optimization
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and modern data architecture
  • Experience working with APIs, batch and streaming data ingestion
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Snowflake and Databricks.
  • Experience with event-driven or real-time data processing
  • Experience working with financial datasets including equities, market data, pricing feeds or portfolio/transaction data
  • Understanding of asset management and capital markets concepts, including securities, benchmarks, and portfolio data, is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with indexing data and quantitative datasets used in systematic or factor-based investment processes is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data governance, security and compliance best practices
  • Exposure to machine learning data pipelines
  • Experience with migrations from on-premises SQL server databases to cloud platforms.
