Responsibilities
PRIMARY PURPOSE
Provides expert financial planning, analysis, and management reporting to support short- to medium-term decision-making across TransLink Divisions. Develops operating budgets, forecasts, and performance reporting, delivering actionable insights that improve financial discipline, resource allocation, and business outcomes. Applies best practices in FP&A, data analytics, and financial systems to enhance the quality, timeliness, and usefulness of management information.
Key Accountabilities
Supports financial planning and forecasting activities, including annual budgets and forecasts for various revenue streams and operating expenses. Develops assumptions, scenarios, and sensitivities to support informed decision-making.
Designs, maintains, and enhances management reporting frameworks, including monthly performance reporting, variance analysis, dashboards, and executive summaries. Ensures reporting is accurate, timely, consistent, and aligned with corporate standards while offering guidance to other analysts as needed to help strengthen analysis and reporting practices.
Reviews revenue and expenditure performance results, makes recommendations, and consolidates information for use in Board reports and executive summaries.
Provides strategic financial advice to business partners, advising leaders on cost drivers, risks, trade-offs, and opportunities impacting operating budgets. Translates complex financial data into clear insights and recommendations.
Analyzes financial and operational performance, identifying trends, risks, and improvement opportunities. Tracks key drivers, evaluates productivity and efficiency initiatives, and supports development of mitigation strategies where variances emerge.
Coordinates cross-functional FP&A activities, working closely with departments, finance colleagues, operating companies and other stakeholders to gather inputs, validate assumptions, and ensure alignment across budgets and forecasts
Participates in development of the 10-Year Investment Plan in conjunction with various cross-functional teams and promptly provides financial information when required to back up the development and management of the plan.
Contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, including enhancements to FP&A processes, financial systems, data quality, and reporting automation. Participates in system implementations and process redesigns as required
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A recognized professional accounting designation is mandatory, supported by a minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in Financial Planning & Analysis.
Other Requirements
Strong FP&A skills, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and scenario modeling
Advanced analytical and financial modeling skills using Excel and other modeling tools (Longview, etc.)
Strong business acumen and ability to challenge assumptions constructively
Solid understanding of accounting principles, with ability to bridge management and financial reporting
Strong skills with PowerPoint and ability to present complex information in a concise manner along with strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills who builds great relationships with colleagues, senior leaders and non-financial staff at various levels
Strong organization and time management skills with ability to multitask during tight project deadlines
Other Information
Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.
Work Schedule
37.5 hours per week.
Work Designation
Hybrid
This position offers the flexibility of working both on-site and remotely within B.C.
Rate of Pay
The salary for this position ranges from $91,840 - $137,760 per annum. Actual salary offered will be based on education, experience, skills, and qualifications as they relate to the role.
