Position:
We are looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer who thrives in a precision-driven, aerospace environment and is eager to make an impact on world-class landing gear programs. The Quality Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of Quality Inspection Plans, Control Plans, and related quality documentation in support of new product introductions and existing aerospace programs. This role ensures compliance with AS9100, ISO, customer, and regulatory requirements throughout the manufacturing lifecycle.
As a key contributor to the Quality Management System, the Quality Engineer actively drives continuous improvement initiatives by leading and participating in root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and internal and external audit activities. The role works cross-functionally with Quality Inspectors, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production teams to improve process capability, reduce non-conformances, and enhance overall product quality and on-time delivery.
Role And Responsibilities
Prepare and maintain First Article Inspection (FAI/Delta FAI) and DVI documentation in accordance with AS9102 and customer requirements.
Develop inspection method sheets, control plans, and quality plans to support new and existing landing gear and precision-machined component programs.
Review and approve manufacturing plans, operation sheets, special process documentation, and internal/processing drawings, with emphasis on tight tolerances, GD&T, and critical characteristics.
Support new program launches by participating in cross-functional reviews and submitting quality and technical documentation to customers for approval.
Investigate and resolve quality, dimensional, and workmanship issues using structured root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
Participate in MRB activities, including disposition of nonconforming material and risk assessment.
Generate and analyze quality metrics to drive continuous improvement in machining processes and product conformity.
Lead, coach, and train quality inspectors and production personnel, including CMM and in-process inspection practices.
Support customer, regulatory, and third-party audits, as well as source inspections.
Act as a quality liaison with suppliers, purchasing, manufacturing engineering, and operations to ensure consistent quality across the supply chain.
Perform Other Duties As Required.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent experience with 5+ years in Quality or Manufacturing Quality within aerospace.
Aerospace experience in a Tier 1 or OEM environment; CQE or ASQ certification is highly valued.
Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering data, including drawings, GD&T, bills of material, and technical specifications, with strong attention to detail.
Expertise in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement practices (e.g., Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, continuous flow, setup reduction, mistake-proofing).
Knowledge of model-based definition (MBD) and digital product definition (DPD) parts.
Strong understanding of aerospace quality standards, including AS9100, AS9102, AS9103, and ISO, and experience applying them in high-precision manufacturing.
Proficiency with quality and engineering systems such as ENOVIA, InspectionXpert, and Inceptra (preferred).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage cross-functional teams, customers, and suppliers at all levels.
Highly organized, analytical, and capable of driving results both independently and collaboratively.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
