Principal Software Engineer (IC4)
to assume a pivotal technical leadership position in designing and delivering highly scalable, secure, and efficient platform services. These services will empower customers to build AI-driven applications utilizing their data. As a Principal Engineer, you will serve as a
technical authority , leading architectural and design decisions, mentoring senior engineers, and delivering essential components across the data, AI, and cloud infrastructure stack. What We Are Looking For: BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience. 5-8+ years of professional software engineering experience, particularly with large-scale distributed systems. Strong proficiency in Java, C++, or Go, with Python experience preferred for AI/ML integration. In-depth knowledge of cloud-native architectures, including microservices, REST/gRPC APIs, and containerization. Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts: consistency, fault tolerance, scalability, concurrency, and observability. Hands-on experience in designing and operating highly available, multi-tenant cloud services. Exceptional system design capabilities, enabling you to independently drive architectural decisions. Excellent communication skills with the capacity to influence across teams. Key Responsibilities: Lead the design, development, and maintenance of extensive, distributed multi-tenant cloud services with rigorous availability, performance, and security requirements. Oversee the end-to-end ownership of complex distributed systems, from design through implementation, testing, deployment, and operations. Conduct technical design reviews and influence architecture across various teams and organizations. Collaborate closely with product management, applied science, and cloud infrastructure teams to translate product requirements into effective technical solutions. Build and advance cloud-native services utilizing microservices, APIs, and modern DevOps practices. Identify and address systemic performance, reliability, and scalability challenges in expansive distributed environments. Mentor junior engineers to cultivate a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence within the team. Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only. The hiring range in USD is from $96,800 to $223,400 per annum. Eligible for bonus and equity. Oracle maintains broad salary ranges to consider variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations. Candidates are usually placed within the range based on these variables.
