*Working Model:* Hybrid – 2–3 days onsite per week

*Rate:* £550 per day
*IR35 Status:* Inside IR35 initially (potential to move Outside IR35 later)
*Overview*
We are seeking an experienced *SC Cleared Infrastructure Virtualisation Engineer* to support the design, development, build and validation of the core virtual estate forming the backbone of the enhanced Platform within a defence environment.
Candidate must have an active SC clearance.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Design, build and validate virtualisation components
* Produce and review design documentation
* Support system testing activities
* Work with Service Management to resolve issues
*Essential Skills & Experience*
Minimum 3 years’ experience in design, implementation and troubleshooting of:
VMware Technologies
* *VMware ESXi*
* Distributed Virtual Switches (DVS)
* Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS)
* Distributed Power Management (DPM)
* *VMware vSAN*
* Hybrid and All-Flash configurations
* *VMware vCenter*
* High Availability
* Clustering
* Cross-site failover and resilience
* *VMware NSX*
* Microsegmentation firewalling
* Cross-site VC NSX
* *VMware Horizon*
* AppVolumes
* AppStacks
*Additional Requirements:*
* VMware VCP (or equivalent, obtained within last 5 years)
* Strong communication and analytical skills
* *Active SC clearance*
* MS Office competency
*Desirable*
* Defence / Public Sector experience (ideally Defence Digital)
* Delivery of accredited secure solutions
* Agile (SAFe4) and Waterfall experience
* Large-scale virtual infrastructure environments
* Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence)
* CCNA / NSX-DC or similar
* Computer Science degree
* Experience designing secure multi-tenant environments
* Chartered Engineer status
* Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues efficiently.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment. This role is ideal for professionals committed to delivering secure and innovative virtualisation solutions within a government or defence context.
* Candidates must demonstrate a proactive approach towards maintaining security standards whilst leveraging modern IT practices to enhance infrastructure performance.
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 24 months
Pay: Up to £555.00 per day
Ability to commute/relocate:
* Corsham SN13: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
