Typical Assignments:
- Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration laws, inspect documents and possessions for citizenship or violations, prevent undocumented noncitizens from entering the country, apprehend smugglers at or near border areas using covert positions with infrared scopes during night operations, interpret tracks marks evidence of illegal entry inspect farm buildings traffic city patrols transportation checks patrolling international boundary coastal waterways vehicles horses vessels off-road ATVs snowmobiles motorcycles perform duties related USBP Mission identify potential risks documentable threats obstacles impact effectiveness protection assets personnel
Qualifications
The following qualifications are required:
General Work Experience (GL-5):
One year general work experience demonstrating ability take charge sound decisions maintain composure stressful situations learn regulations methods techniques classroom training job instruction gather concise information questioning observation examination documents records OR education substitution bachelor's degree full four-year course study field leading bachelor's degree accredited college university OR combination work experience successfully completed college education calculated resume transcripts submitted application OR
OR specialized work experience showing necessary skills judgment decision use firearms deal people courteous tactful manner law enforcement matters analyze rapidly prompt decisions arrests complete required training apply these skills enforce criminal code inspect determining corrections rehabilitation.
