Cook/Dietary Aide

Location:  Extendicare St. Catharines

What you'll be doing

Cook

• Reviews regular and therapeutic menus and sets up equipment and supplies for food preparation.
• Prepares menu items and nourishments in accordance with prescribed diets.
• Maintains all required records and monitors quality and quantity of food.
• Directs Dietary Aides in basic food preparation procedures and in serving activities at mealtimes.
• Assumes responsibility for routine departmental operations in the absence of the Dietary Manager.

Dietary Aide

• Receiving weekly orders.
• Putting away stock in fridge, freezer and dry storage.
• Cleaning duties as assigned.

What you bring

• Chef training or culinary management certificate or diploma from a program that meets the requirements of the OLTCH Act, is preferred
• Certificate of qualification as a Cook issued by an authority meeting the requirements of the OLTCH Act, is preferred
• Institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality cooking experience is an asset
• "Red Seal" certification preferred
• Current Food Handler`s Certificate is Required
• Experience with an older adult population an asset
• Strong customer and resident service skills.
• Experience in a high paced customer service setting an asset
• Flexible and willingness to learn new tasks
• Ability to multi-task and adapt to quickly changing priorities
• Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills
• Ability to read, write, and follow instructions in English (other languages are an asset)
