At Turning Point , we support individuals with Learning Disabilities across England. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in enhancing daily living skills and empowering people to reach their full potential.

Where will I be working?

You’ll be based in one of our Supported Living facilities in Carlisle . Here, we foster positive relationships and provide a supportive environment focused on person-centered care. Your role will involve various activities, from shopping to cooking, all aimed at promoting independence.

We utilize a digital social care record system to streamline daily tasks, allowing you to spend more quality time with the individuals you support.

Shift Patterns: Flexibility is key! This is a 24-hour service, so you’ll be working a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends.

Your Role and Responsibilities

What will I be doing?

This hands-on role means no two days are the same! Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, and communication challenges.
  • Providing personalized care and assistance.
  • Facilitating daily activities at home and in the community.
  • Encouraging independence and control over their lives.
  • Investing time to understand and deliver effective support.
  • Delivering outcome-focused support to enhance skills and interests.
  • Maintaining accurate records to ensure effective support planning.

What skills and qualities do I need?

We’re looking for someone with the right attitude and experience in supporting individuals with anxiety and complex needs. Essential qualities include:

  • Passion, care, and enthusiasm for helping others.
  • Flexibility, patience, and a non-judgmental approach.
  • A great team player with plenty of energy.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to handle the physical aspects of the role, including manual handling.

Drivers are desirable but not essential.
