About Our SchoolWelcome to Easthorpe School , an independent specialist provision dedicated to serving children and young people in the East Midlands. We cater to those living with their families, foster carers, or in residential children's homes.
Since opening our doors in November 2022, we are excited to expand our team to support the growing number of pupils in our Lower School (ages 7-13). With class sizes capped at six pupils, each class is supported by a qualified teacher and up to two teaching assistants.
Our mission is to support pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and various diagnoses, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and more. This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced teaching assistants to help shape our new provision and enrich the lives of our pupils.
In this role, you will have the chance to develop your skills while focusing on areas that resonate with your interests, such as food hygiene, Forest School, sports, therapy, or emotional literacy.
Role Responsibilities- Mentor and support one pupil or a small group of no more than six.
- Assist the Classroom Teacher during lessons.
- Report on pupils' progress and collaborate with school staff to meet their needs.
- Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extracurricular activities and school trips.
- Help with lesson planning and classroom preparation.
- Set work and mark assignments as appropriate.
- Build positive relationships with pupils to foster interaction and positive learning outcomes.
- Strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, along with sound IT skills.
- Previous experience in a similar role, such as Teaching Assistant.
- Experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
- Confidence to take on additional responsibilities in areas like Food Hygiene, Forest School, Lunchtimes, or School Yoga.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques.
- Commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to starting work.

The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS Check, with the cost covered by Selwyn Hall School.
