The primary function of the Border Patrol Agent is to detect and prevent unauthorized entry into the United States.

• Utilizing vehicle patrols, horseback rides, or surveillance equipment, agents must rapidly analyze information to develop effective strategies for detecting violators at or near the U.S.-Mexico border.
