Our busy facility in New York City, New York is looking for a skilled Material Handler to manage the flow of goods within our warehouse. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for moving, storing, and organizing materials and products efficiently and safely. This role is critical for maintaining smooth operations and ensuring that inventory is readily available for production and distribution. You will operate various types of material handling equipment, requiring a keen eye for detail and a strong commitment to safety protocols. The ideal candidate is reliable, physically capable of significant lifting, and understands the importance of accurate inventory management within a complex logistics network. We are dedicated to providing a safe working environment, and adherence to all safety guidelines, including the use of proper PPE, is mandatory. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and other vehicles.
- Move materials to and from storage areas, production lines, or shipping docks.
- Organize and stack materials in designated storage locations.
- Perform regular inspections of material handling equipment to ensure proper working condition.
- Assist with inventory counts and ensure accuracy of material records.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, free from hazards.
- Adhere strictly to all safety procedures and company policies, including the mandatory use of PPE.
- Support shipping and receiving operations as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Valid forklift certification is highly preferred.
- Ability to perform lifting of heavy materials, typically up to 75 pounds.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety practices and procedures.
- Good physical condition and stamina for demanding tasks.
- Excellent coordination and manual dexterity.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Knowledge of logistics principles and inventory management systems is beneficial.
