We are seeking an organized and efficient Shipping Clerk to join our logistics team in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a Shipping Clerk, you will be responsible for overseeing the accurate and timely preparation of all outgoing shipments. This includes verifying order details, selecting appropriate packaging, generating shipping labels, and coordinating with carriers. A meticulous approach to documentation and a solid understanding of shipping procedures are essential for this role. This is a great opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail and experience in warehouse or logistics environments to take on a critical administrative and operational function.
Responsibilities:
- Verify shipping orders for accuracy against inventory records.
- Select appropriate packaging materials to ensure the safe transit of goods.
- Print and affix shipping labels, including tracking information.
- Prepare bills of lading and other shipping documentation.
- Schedule pickups with various shipping carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, USPS, freight).
- Communicate with customers and internal departments regarding shipment status.
- Maintain a clean and organized shipping area.
- Track shipments and resolve any delivery issues or discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations and company policies.
- Follow all safety protocols, including the proper use of PPE during handling of packages.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a related logistics role.
- Proficiency with shipping software and carrier portals.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to interpret shipping orders and documentation.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience with basic warehouse operations and inventory management.
- Ability to perform moderate lifting as required for package handling.
- A commitment to upholding safety standards and procedures.
