Responsibilities What You'll Do: As a PhD Applied Scientist Intern at Oracle Analytics, you will play a key role in developing advanced enterprise AI products designed for intelligent data analysis at scale. Your contributions will involve research and prototyping efforts in Generative AI, aiding in building AI agents, aligning reasoning LLMs, and enhancing inference scaling. We seek interns who thrive on independent problem-solving, can quickly identify relevant research, and craft hypotheses and questions backed by strong empirical skills. Join us in advancing Oracle's next-generation analytics and data platforms. What You'll Bring: (Objective Minimum Qualifications) Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Linguistics, or a related field during the 2025-2026 academic year, with plans to return post-internship.
Proven experience in designing and implementing scalable AI/ML systems in a production-like environment.
Strong foundation in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Generative AI, particularly in LLMs and reasoning models.
Experience with structured data (SQL, analytics engines) and unstructured data (texts, documents).
Hands-on experience with LLM frameworks and agentic tools including:
LangChain
VectorStores and hybrid retrieval systems
Graph-based or knowledge-augmented generation
LLM Cache and orchestration
Fine-tuning LLMs and Reinforcement Learning
Experience in inference scaling and building critic models.
Strong research background with a solid publication record in top-tier conferences such as ACL, EMNLP, NeurIPS, ICLR, or NAACL.
Reside in the United States or attend a university in the US.
Able to obtain work authorization in the US in 2026.

The US hiring range for this role is $19.62 to $53.00 per hour, translating to an annual salary of $40,800 to $110,240.
