Lead. Influence. Build what's next.

IntermodeX is looking for a Finance Manager on a 1 year contract who wants more than just month-end close. This is a hands-on leadership role with real influence — overseeing finance and administration, partnering with senior leaders, and helping shape how the business makes decisions.

If you enjoy turning numbers into insight, leading people, and improving systems in a fast-moving operational environment, this role offers both scope and visibility.

Why this role stands out
  • Lead the Finance & Administration function

  • Be a trusted advisor to the Controller and senior leadership

  • Drive costing, pricing, and operational KPIs that directly impact the business

  • Play a key role in group-wide system implementations and projects

  • Manage and mentor a finance team in a collaborative environment

What you'll be responsible for

Financial leadership & reporting

  • Own local accounting and month-end reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness

  • Support audits, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling

  • Develop costing models and pricing support for operational leaders

  • Build business cases for capital and special projects

  • Partner closely with department managers to provide clear financial insight

Projects & systems

  • Lead and act as SME on group initiatives (e.g., expense management)

  • Support new finance system implementations and continuous improvement projects

  • Collaborate with SSA Marine Canada on cross-group initiatives

People leadership

  • Lead and develop the billing, payroll, and accounting support teams

  • Oversee union payroll, year-end adjustments, and reconciliations

  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and day-to-day guidance to ensure a high-performing team

Controls & governance

  • Maintain and improve internal control policies and documentation

  • Act as a go-to resource for finance and administrative inquiries across the business

What we're looking for
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business (CPA is a strong asset)

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting

  • 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role

  • Strong cost accounting, financial modeling, and forecasting skills

  • Advanced Excel skills (pivots, lookups, formulas)

  • Experience in logistics, transportation, or a complex operational environment is an asset

What will make you successful here
  • You're a strong people leader who enjoys developing others

  • You communicate clearly and build trust across teams

  • You're comfortable balancing strategy with hands-on work

  • You thrive in a changing environment and enjoy solving complex problems

  • You bring sound judgment, discretion, and a high degree of professionalism

What you can expect
  • A leadership role with real impact and visibility

  • Exposure to group-level initiatives and senior decision-making

  • A collaborative team culture where your expertise is valued

  • Opportunities to influence systems, processes, and how the business operates

  • Richmond, British Columbia, Canada
