IntermodeX is looking for a Finance Manager on a 1 year contract who wants more than just month-end close. This is a hands-on leadership role with real influence — overseeing finance and administration, partnering with senior leaders, and helping shape how the business makes decisions.

Be a trusted advisor to the Controller and senior leadership
Drive costing, pricing, and operational KPIs that directly impact the business
Play a key role in group-wide system implementations and projects
Manage and mentor a finance team in a collaborative environment
What you'll be responsible for
Financial leadership & reporting
Own local accounting and month-end reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Support audits, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling
Develop costing models and pricing support for operational leaders
Build business cases for capital and special projects
Partner closely with department managers to provide clear financial insight
Projects & systems
Lead and act as SME on group initiatives (e.g., expense management)
Support new finance system implementations and continuous improvement projects
Collaborate with SSA Marine Canada on cross-group initiatives
People leadership
Lead and develop the billing, payroll, and accounting support teams
Oversee union payroll, year-end adjustments, and reconciliations
Provide coaching, mentoring, and day-to-day guidance to ensure a high-performing team
Controls & governance
Maintain and improve internal control policies and documentation
Act as a go-to resource for finance and administrative inquiries across the business
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business (CPA is a strong asset)
5+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting
3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role
Strong cost accounting, financial modeling, and forecasting skills
Advanced Excel skills (pivots, lookups, formulas)
Experience in logistics, transportation, or a complex operational environment is an asset
