Über

We are seeking an experienced Payroll & Benefits Specialist who owns the end-to-end payroll function across multiple companies within a shared services environment.

This role is the single point of accountability for payroll accuracy, compliance, and delivery. It ensures bi-weekly payroll and benefits administration are executed flawlessly and on time. All processes are carried out in full compliance with federal and provincial regulations.

You Will Bring

REQUIRED

  • 4+ years of experience in payroll and benefits
  • Access to a reliable vehicle for daily use
  • Valid Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation

PREFERRED

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience using HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., ADP)
  • Knowledge of system workflows and data integrity best practices for 300+ employees and/or multiple corporate entities
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity

Exceptional Skills Required:

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data processing and reporting
  • Verbal and written communication, with the ability to explain complex payroll and benefits information clearly
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; able to identify issues and make informed, data-driven decisions
  • Excellent organization and the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within cross-functional teams

 Key Responsibilities

  • Own the full end-to-end payroll lifecycle for multiple corporate entities, including bi-weekly payroll processing, garnishments, benefits deductions, and tax withholdings.
  • Act as the final authority and subject matter expert on payroll, time and attendance and benefit related matters.
  • Take full accountability for payroll accuracy and timeliness, proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies before payroll is finalized
  • Own payroll compliance, ensuring all tax filings, remittances, and year-end reporting (T4s, T4As, ROEs, WSIB, CRA and provincial requirements) are accurate and submitted on time
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of new hires, temporary workers, transfers, promotions, and terminations.
  • Conduct regular payroll, benefits, and tax audits; identify risks, recommend improvements, and implement best practices.
  • Maintain and govern payroll and benefits data integrity within HRIS/payroll systems (ADP), ensuring accurate employee records at all times. Leads the time and attendance processes, including review, validation, and system entry of employee hours
  • Serve as the primary and trusted point of contact for all payroll and benefits inquiries, providing clear, timely, and accurate guidance to employees and managers
  • Own and produce payroll-related reporting (weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end), including payroll summaries, WSIB, hours worked, and leave balances
  • Administer employee benefit plans end-to-end, including enrollment, changes, leaves, and employee education
  • Lead or contribute to payroll and benefits initiatives such as system upgrades, audits, process optimization, and policy improvements 
  • At all times maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive employee information.
  • Support HR initiatives and cross-functional projects, bringing a payroll-owner mindset to continuous improvement efforts.

Additional Notes

  • Work at a computer for extended periods may be required
  • Perform routine tasks with frequent data review and entry, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Occasional additional hours may be required during payroll deadlines or special projects
