The Team Lead, Substation Building Operations is accountable for implementing and executing a comprehensive range of building services, including preventative and corrective maintenance, repairs, project support, and equipment replacement planning. The role also provides leadership in service contract management, cost control, stakeholder engagement, and the application of technical expertise to continuously improve building operations. You will drive operational excellence, support team development, and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure ENMAX's substation facilities meet operational, safety, and performance expectations. This role offers the chance to build capability, influence standards, and take ownership of critical substation building services that support the reliability and safety of our electrical system.
Major Responsibilities
Supervises the Substation Building Operations team to execute the substation building operations maintenance program, including planning, scheduling, and supervising all planned and on-demand maintenance activities.
Assist with program level contractor management and supports the Substation Building Operations team with contractor performance, complaisance, and accountability.
Assist with project activities at substations, and substation building capital asset management planning, and on-demand replacements.
Participates in the development and administration of maintenance, construction, and service contracts, including request for proposals, bid evaluation, bid selection, and award of contracts.
Coordinates building maintenance activities with other departments, partners, the public, and outside agencies.
Assist with preparing the substation building maintenance budget. Oversees substation building operations work orders, invoicing, cost control, and variance analysis.
Assists with the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards for building operations and facilities.
Assists with the development of preventative maintenance plans and maintenance standards for substations.
Evaluates Substation Building Operators' performance to ensure a high-level stakeholder satisfaction.
Works collaboratively with ENMAX Safety / EPC on substations building operations safety program, and contractor training.
Enforces internal standard operating procedures, policies, and processes.
Education Required
Red seal trades certificate or 4th Class or higher - Power Engineering Certificate of Competency with ABSA.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in building operations, substation maintenance, or a related technical environment.
Supervisory experience leading and supporting a skilled operational team.
Demonstrated experience in process design and implementation, particularly within substation or asset maintenance programs.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS); Maximo experience is preferred
Proven experience in contractor and vendor management, including performance oversight and compliance.
Solid background in budget management, including work orders, invoicing, cost control, and variance analysis.
Experience in contract development, negotiation, and ongoing contract management.
