Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the General Superintendent, you will be part of the Mine Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.
Lead day-to-day operations for the underground mine, lead by example and build a safe and strong employee culture;
Plan, direct and coordinate the activities of mine operations employees in a safe, environmentally sound and efficient manner, either personally or through subordinate supervisors;
Develop yearly a departmental objective and strategy aligned with the corporation and division goals;
Regularly monitor costs, productivity, safety and employee motivation;
Interact with the entire mine team to establish production and quality standards by using knowledge of mining technology (methods, procedures, standards and machine & equipment capabilities);
Set priorities, plan and direct mining activities in keeping up with effective mining operations and cost factors;
Coordinate production activities along with procurement, maintenance, production planning, safety and quality control activities in order to obtain optimal use of employee and equipment resources;
Review and analyze production to determine the sources of variance between production specifications and goals;
Collaborate and communicate effectively with all appropriate parties, develop and implement methods and procedures to eliminate operational problems and improve efficiency as well as ore quality;
Communicate and coordinate with the engineering team to modify equipment and procedures to improve productivity;
Manage the performance and development of direct reports;
Ensure compliance with the Agnico Eagle Mining Policies and Procedures;
Coach and mentor subordinates in regard to employee relations, safety, environmental, productivity and cost issues;
Address inappropriate behavior as required;
Assist in the development and preparation of capital and operating budgets;
Interface with vendors and suppliers to ensure the efficient use of supplies and tools;
Confer with the engineering team, maintenance and production personnel to plan and direct activities that have an impact on departmental productivity;
Provide input for short and long range mine planning development;
Oversee investigations involving safety incidents, accidents and near misses;
Ensure that reports are completed accurately and in a timely manner;
Recommend procedures and methods to improve employee safety.
What You Need To Succeed
Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline;
10 years of experience in directing underground mining operations;
Thorough working knowledge and understanding of efficient mining practices, procedures and regulations;
Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
Note that the official working language at Meliadine is English.
Your Work Schedule
Schedule: 4/3 schdedule (Monday to Thursday) at our Meliadine Mine;
Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
