Software Engineer - Retail Project Engineering

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Retail Project Engineering Team. In this hybrid role, you will be a key contributor to the design, development, and delivery of software solutions that power modern grocery retail operations. You will work closely with Product Managers to translate business needs into scalable, secure, and high-quality technical solutions. This position plays a critical role in achieving team goals by providing deep product expertise and delivering solutions and services that meet or exceed customer expectations.
Salary Range: CAD 80,000- CAD 110,000
Your tasks
Design, develop, test, deploy, monitor, and maintain high-quality, scalable software solutions supporting grocery retail business functions, including inventory management, pricing and promotions, POS integration, weigh scale systems, supply chain, and e-commerce platforms.
Collaborate with Product Managers and cross-functional stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical designs and implementation plans.
Participate in requirements analysis, solution architecture, and technical decision-making to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with product roadmaps.
Develop and maintain full-stack applications using approved programming languages, frameworks, and development standards while ensuring long-term code quality and maintainability.
Deploy, monitor, and support applications across Windows, Linux, cloud-based platforms, and containerized environments (e.g., Docker), including deployment pipelines and system integrations through RESTful APIs.
Apply and promote software engineering best practices, including clean code principles, coding standards, peer code reviews, version control (Git), automated testing, and technical documentation.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering practices, technical standards, and team collaboration.
Your profile
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or a minimum of 3 years of equivalent professional technical experience.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Proven ability to work independently with strong ownership, attention to detail, and reliability in delivering results.
Full-stack development experience with hands-on expertise in front-end and back-end technologies, including system integrations.
Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Java, C#, JavaScript, and Python.
Solid experience with relational and/or NoSQL database design and management.
Practical experience working with APIs (RESTful services).
Hands-on experience with Windows and Linux environments, containerized deployments (Docker), and deployment pipelines.
Familiarity with cloud architectures and platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including scalability and reliability considerations.
Experience working with retail, grocery, or transaction-heavy systems is strongly preferred.
Experience working in cross-functional teams and the ability to collaborate effectively in an on-site, team-oriented engineering environment.
