Inspired HR is partnering with a confidential client to hire a Financial Controller for a growing, multi-entity operating business based in downtown Vancouver.

Why This Role Exists

As this organization continues to expand across multiple operating entities, financial complexity is increasing. To scale with discipline and clarity, they need a hands-on financial leader who executes not just oversees.

This role exists to bring structure, accountability, and insight to a key operating division. You will be deeply involved in the numbers, leading period-end close, preparing financial reporting, and solving real operational issues. Your work will directly inform leadership decision-making and support ongoing growth.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Financial Controller who thrives on execution. This is not a purely oversight role, you will be in the details daily, working alongside your team to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and strong financial discipline.

You will own the full monthly close cycle, deliver reporting that drives business decisions, and implement processes that scale with growth.

You will also partner closely with senior leadership, translating strategy into actionable financial insights in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.

What Success Looks Like

  • Own and execute the full monthly close process across multiple entities
  • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting working papers
  • Deliver complete, accurate, and timely financial reporting packages
  • Support board-level reporting and covenant compliance as required
  • Lead and mentor a small team of finance professionals—review work, coach, and step in when needed
  • Drive continuous process improvement—tighten controls, streamline workflows, and reduce close timelines
  • Partner with operational leaders on budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, audit preparation, and system enhancements
  • Provide hands-on oversight across AR, AP, and special projects, including integrations and process transitions

Growth Potential

This is a builder role designed to grow with the organization. Over time, this position may expand into:

  • Oversight of additional entities or business units
  • Strategic finance or FP&A leadership
  • M&A support and post-acquisition integration
  • Cross-functional leadership across systems, reporting, or internal controls

What You Can Expect

This is a nimble, execution-focused environment that values initiative and accountability. You will be trusted with ownership and expected to deliver. Collaboration is strong, communication is direct, and leadership remains hands-on.

  • Salary: $120,000–$140,000 annually
  • Location: Downtown Vancouver (in office)
Requirements
  • CPA designation
  • 5+ years of progressive financial experience, including ownership of full-cycle close
  • Strong technical accounting expertise and attention to detail
  • Experience preparing financial statements and working directly in the general ledger
  • Ability to prioritize and execute in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally
  • Experience in multi-entity or multi-location businesses
  • Experience with mid-market ERP systems (e.g., Sage or similar)
  • Advanced Excel capability
  • Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
