About the Company
We're a boutique financial advisory firm specializing in strategic advice, interim management, and managed accounting support for Canadian companies of all sizes and stages. Our mission: to help clients not just survive, but thrive and grow.
We offer services across four key areas: Restructuring (navigating financial challenges), Accounting & Finance (full-cycle financial management), Business Financing (strategic funding guidance), and Mortgage Administration (back-office processing). We're small enough for personalized attention but established enough to deliver sophisticated expertise and real stability.
Our clients span the business lifecycle - from startups needing foundational support, to growth-stage companies optimizing operations, to established businesses refining strategies, to companies facing financial turnaround needs. We serve diverse industries across Canada. We've worked with well-known Canadian brands like Second Cup Coffee and Danier.
OUR COMPANY VALUES guide our team and shape our culture:
Planning and Execution: We turn plans into action and manage every step to success
Attention to Detail: We verify every detail to ensure accuracy
Results Over Words: We deliver results and let our work speak for us
Our culture is supportive, fast-paced, and growth-oriented. We're client-centered - for many clients, we are their accounting department. We invest in growing both team members and clients. Senior Managers support and coach managers and team members in their professional development. You'll work directly with managing directors and client leadership and have real impact.
About the Role
We're looking for a Manager who would take ownership of the monthly, quarterly and year-end close process of multiple engagements. You would be the main point of contact for assigned clients, and Senior accounts who would be supporting you in completing deliverables and meeting deadlines.
Ensures deliverables are completed timely, with accuracy and according to relevant standards.
Manages the team members assigned to the engagements by overseeing their workflow, reviewing their work, and assisting with their training, mentoring and the upskilling of these accounting staff.
Our IDEAL CANDIDATE brings 5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience from a major accounting firm or multinational company. You're technically strong, but more importantly: you think independently, question what doesn't make sense, and use practical judgment to bring solutions that make clients' lives easier. You don't need hand-holding - when blockers arise, you figure it out and get it done. You'll enable client leadership to focus on strategy while you deliver accurate work, help us scale, and grow alongside the company and clients.
Your performance will be measured by service delivery quality, timeliness (meeting deadlines), and client satisfaction.
You'll collaborate closely with the clients and other Accountants within the Managed Accounting Department. This position reports directly to a Director or Managing Director.
You'll be doing things like:
Monthly Accounting & Close: Managing multiple client accounts while overseeing a team of Accountants
Financial Reporting: Reviewing monthly financial statements, financial packages and supporting schedules; while ensuring deliverables are completed and presented timely.
Client Service & Communication: Responding promptly to client inquiries; leading phone and video calls with clients; analyzing transactions and researching issues; providing documentation; building trusted relationships (for many clients, we ARE their accounting department).
Year-End Support: Reviewing year-end packages for external accountants and auditors; and ensuring the following work is completed by accounting team: gathering documentation and supporting schedules; uploading bank statements to portals; assisting with year-end and quarterly reconciliations; coordinating with external parties to support audits and tax filings.
Team Collaboration & Mentorship: Reviewing other Accountants' work and catching errors before they reach clients; mentoring team members; coordinating on shared clients; communicating file status and blockers; supporting colleagues during busy periods.
Process Improvement: Identifying inefficiencies and suggesting improvements; automating repetitive tasks; documenting SOPs; exploring AI and automation tools; questioning existing processes and bringing fresh ideas.
