Main Mission
The Superintendent – Civil and Mechanical Infrastructure Projects is responsible for managing and coordinating the execution of construction and installation work related to surface infrastructure at the mining site. They ensure proper planning, progress tracking, quality of civil and mechanical works, and compliance with safety standards, contractual requirements, and project timelines.
About the Position
The Superintendent – Civil and Mechanical Infrastructure Projects is part of the management team at the Éléonore mine site and belongs to the surface operations team. One of the main ongoing projects is the expansion of the tailings storage facility. This project, along with other surface department initiatives, will be managed by a team of two superintendents, including this position.
This role is essential to ensure that these structures are built in accordance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and technical specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately interpret plans and specifications and ensure adherence to the project schedule.
- Ensure the implementation of appropriate work techniques in close collaboration with training teams and health & safety stakeholders.
- Work closely with the consulting firm responsible for project management to:
- Coordinate all specialized contractors and ensure they meet their obligations and contractual requirements regarding timelines, costs, and quality.
- Plan and coordinate site organization based on subcontractor activities.
- Support teams in executing the work.
- Manage labor hour budgets to optimize project performance.
- Ensure compliance with plans and specifications as work progresses.
- Efficiently allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to optimize productivity and minimize costs.
- Participate in site meetings.
Safety Management
- Implement and enforce safety protocols on the construction site, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees and subcontractors.
- Complete required administrative reports (incident/accident/hours/etc.).
- Apply and monitor the prevention program on site.
Quality Control
- Ensure all construction work meets established quality standards and technical specifications. Conduct regular inspections and promptly address potential issues.
Communication
- Serve as the main point of contact between Dhilmar management, construction teams, engineers, and other stakeholders. Provide regular updates on project progress and address concerns or challenges as they arise.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in civil, mechanical, industrial engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in coordinating subcontractors, site planning, and tracking costs, schedules, and budgets.
- Participation in multidisciplinary projects (buildings, structures, piping, mechanical equipment, utilities).
- Minimum of five years of experience supervising construction projects, preferably in the mining or similar infrastructure sector.
- Strong understanding of construction practices, safety standards, and relevant environmental regulations.
- Proficiency in project management software and planning tools.
- Valid ASP Construction card.
- Valid driver's license.
