What You Offer:
Ideally, you have extensive experience working with children, young adults or vulnerable individuals in a health care, school, or home setting. The Position:
This is a full-time seasonal role based in the St. Albert area, supporting Hearts in Action Summer Camps. The position focuses on delivering engaging, meaningful programming that fosters genuine relationships and a strong sense of belonging among participants. The program runs Monday through Friday, from June 29, 2026 to August 21, 2026. The standard workweek consists of 40 hours. You may be required to work additional hours before or after the program day to meet depending on business needs. Core hours are 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The Team Lead (TL) will be reporting to the assigned Program Supervisor. The TL provides leadership and support to Community Specialists (CS) and participants for assigned programs. This role will ensure program planning and implementation focuses on participant goals and meeting assigned outcomes. The conscientious TL will act with integrity, be open to growth, live our purpose, cultivate teamwork, and put forth an extraordinary effort to empower people with disabilities and their families to grow, succeed, and belong.
- Informs, supports, trains, mentors, leads, and oversees direct care frontline employees
- Plans programming, ensuring meaningful days and purposeful support
- Foster genuine relationships promoting dignity, personal interests, and identities
- Empower people with diverse abilities to create meaningful days and achieve their goals
- Identifies and solves problems, building staff capacity in difficult situations
- Conducts general administration, follow-ups, documentation, and reporting duties as assigned
- Ensures a risk free, stimulating, safe and supportive environment
- Perform other job-related activities as required
Qualifications
- Minimum education requirement of High School Diploma with a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience; a diploma or certificate in Disability Services, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field with 2-3 years of related experience; or a University Degree in Disability Services, Education, Kinesiology, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field with 1-2 years of related experience
- Alignment with AdaptAbilities core purpose and core values
- Ability to remain calm in emotionally challenging situations and effectively use empathy
- Clear Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check are required upon hire
- Intermediate First Aid Certification CPR Level C and AED is required upon hire
- Clean class 5 driver's license and vehicle required
- Abuse Prevention and Response Protocol is required for Team Leads working with adults
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and Medication Administration are required
Funding for Summer Positions
AdaptAbilities utilizes Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Grant for various temporary summer positions. CSJ is a program under the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS), which aims to provide flexible and holistic services to help youth in Canada develop the skills and gain paid work experience to successfully transition into the labour market. The program provides wage subsidies to employers to create quality summer work experiences for young people aged 15 to 30 years. Youth must be eligible to work in Canada as a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
Note: These are not requirements to be considered for the role but to determine grant eligibility.
Compensation $25.65 to $26.95/ hour depending on experience and education
