Project Overview
I'm looking for a skilled video editor to turn a 50–60 minute narrated historical script into a cinematic YouTube documentary.
The tone is serious, restrained, and atmospheric.
This is long-form documentary editing — not fast-paced YouTube or meme-style content.
Scope of Work
Source period-accurate historical images and public domain footage
Create subtle map animations and geographic overlays
Build visual structure around a pre-written narrated script
Edit a 55–65 minute documentary-style video
Integrate music and ambient sound (subtle, controlled)
Color grade and deliver final 4K YouTube-ready export
Required Skills
Advanced Premiere Pro / DaVinci Resolve / Final Cut
Basic After Effects (maps, overlays, motion graphics)
Strong pacing and narrative structure sense
Clean audio mixing and music ducking
Experience with long-form (40+ minute) YouTube videos
Ideal Experience
Documentary-style editing
History or educational YouTube channels
Projects requiring sustained tension and controlled pacing
Please include:
2–3 relevant long-form samples (30+ minutes preferred)
Brief explanation of your editing approach for long-form retention

Strong narrative instincts
Visual research competence
Patience with slow-burn storytelling
Attention to historical accuracy
If your style relies on heavy transitions, fast cuts, or dramatic effects, this is not the right fit.

Ongoing collaboration possible if quality is strong
Contract duration of less than 1 month. with 30 hours per week.
