We are seeking a detail-oriented Inventory Clerk to manage and maintain accurate inventory records for our warehouse in Des Moines, Iowa. This role is crucial for ensuring that our stock levels are precise, contributing to the overall efficiency of our logistics operations. The Inventory Clerk will be responsible for tracking inventory movement, conducting cycle counts, reconciling discrepancies, and assisting with stocktaking activities. A strong understanding of inventory control principles, attention to detail, and proficiency with inventory management systems are essential. You will work closely with warehouse staff and management to uphold inventory integrity and support operational goals. Adherence to safety protocols, including appropriate PPE and safe lifting practices, is mandatory.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately record and update inventory levels in the inventory management system.
- Perform regular cycle counts and investigate discrepancies.
- Reconcile inventory records with physical counts.
- Assist in conducting full physical inventories and audits.
- Monitor stock rotation (FIFO/LIFO) and identify slow-moving or obsolete inventory.
- Track the movement of goods within the warehouse and ensure proper documentation.
- Generate inventory reports for management.
- Identify and report damaged or expired stock.
- Work closely with warehouse staff to ensure proper put-away and retrieval of inventory.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, including the proper use of PPE and safe lifting techniques.
- Support the logistics team by ensuring inventory availability and accuracy for order fulfillment.
- Maintain a clean and organized inventory storage area.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in inventory control, warehousing, or a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a significant advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Understanding of inventory control principles and logistics operations.
- Commitment to workplace safety and the use of PPE.
