POSITION SUMMARY

This position provides support to the Production Team Members on the Night shift.  The main responsibilities include training, developing, and evaluating Production Team Members to ensure that they can perform the required job tasks to meet company goals (i.e., safety, quality, and productivity).  Other duties include providing relief support and direction to Production Team Members to ensure production goals are met in a timely manner with adherence to safety and quality standards.  This position will also assist with making replacement parts, problem-solving, 5S, and controlling material usage by focusing on scrap reduction.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead, manage, train, and motivate the production team within each of the work cells.
  • Maintain and enforce a safe and clean working environment by complying with health and safety legislation and housekeeping practices, use of personal protective equipment, and any other company policies. This includes accident investigations and documenting/forwarding any violence/harassment complaints.
  • Working closely with the Operations Scheduler to ensure all customer orders are completed on the promised delivery date. Assist in expediting emergency orders.
  • Enforce all company policies according to the handbook and escalate any violations or disciplinary issues of the direct labour workforce to the Operations Manager.
  • Participate in time studies for continuous improvement of production efficiencies.
  • Ensure all SOP's are kept up-to-date and arrange for appropriate training as required.
  • Completion of daily checklists to ensure 5S activities in the work cell.
  • Report any team member absences and any maintenance concerns to the Operations Manager.
  • Ensure the attainment of daily production targets and identify any escalating production concerns in the area.
  • Attending daily tier meetings to maintain communication with team members on the shop floor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Self-starter and results oriented.
  • Proven leadership capability and ability to motivate production team members.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel).
  • Forklift license and experience is considered an asset.
  • First Aid certification is an asset.

  • The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally may maneuver up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job may include but are not limited to close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Must be able to stand continuously for the duration of the scheduled shift.
