Position Summary
The Business Analytics Intern supports the Analytics team within Border Foods' Support Center, located in New Hope, MN, by assisting with the preparation, organization, and reporting of financial and operational data across the business.
This is a paid internship designed as a hands-on learning opportunity for individuals early in their analytics or business career. Interns will gain exposure to enterprise systems, reporting tools, and cross-functional business insights that support restaurant operations and leadership decision-making.
This role follows a hybrid work schedule, with interns working four days per week in the office to support collaboration, mentorship, and hands-on development.
Expected work schedule:
30-40 hours per week during the academic year
40 hours per week during the summer
A key expectation of this role is the ongoing development of Microsoft Excel skills, progressing from basic functionality to an intermediate level through daily responsibilities.
This internship is intended to support professional development and hands-on learning and does not guarantee future employment.
Key Responsibilities
Analytics & Reporting Support
Assist with compiling restaurant financial and operational data from multiple systems, including Microsoft Excel, PAR systems, NetSuite, Taco Bell systems, and Power BI
Support the creation, updating, and maintenance of financial and operational reports and dashboards in Microsoft Power BI
Help prepare weekly operations metrics and recurring analytics reports using Excel-based templates
Assist with period-end financial analysis, including income statement reviews and variance tracking
Operational & Business Support
Assist in calculating and tracking operational performance and bonus-related metrics
Support analysis of new and remodeled restaurant performance compared to forecasts and goals
Help Facilities teams track restaurant equipment metrics and remodel performance trends
Support Development teams with site selection data and historical performance tracking
Assist Operations and HR teams with vendor data, employee turnover, and retention reporting
Administrative & Learning Support
Organize and maintain analytics documentation, reports, and data sources
Assist with tracking analytics-related budgets for consultants, software, and services
Ensure reports are accurate, timely, and formatted appropriately for different audiences
Participate in team meetings, learning sessions, and project reviews
Actively build Excel proficiency and analytics fundamentals through hands-on experience
Support Center Expectations

Basic Microsoft Excel skills required at time of hire, with the expectation of progressing to an intermediate level

Curious, analytical mindset with a desire to learn and grow
Strong organizational and follow-up skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating as part of a team
Professional written and verbal communication skills
Education & Experience
Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Analytics, or a related field
High school diploma or equivalent required
Must be at least 18 years of age
