As a Lead Data Engineer, you'll play a key role in building cutting-edge solutions that enhance our Retail Bank, Small Business Bank, Commercial Bank, and Capital One Shopping. What You'll Do: Collaborate within Agile teams to design and develop robust technical solutions using a variety of full-stack technologies. Work with seasoned developers skilled in machine learning, distributed microservices, and full-stack systems. Engage with programming languages like Java, Scala, Python and leverage Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases as well as cloud data warehousing services such as Redshift and Snowflake. Share your enthusiasm for emerging tech trends, engage in continuous learning, and mentor fellow engineers. Partner with digital product managers to create cloud-based solutions that empower millions of Americans with financial capabilities. Perform unit testing and code reviews to ensure high standards of design, code quality, and performance. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree. At least 3 years of experience in application development (no internship experience applicable). At least 1 year of experience with big data technologies. Preferred Qualifications: 5+ years of application development experience using Python, SQL, Scala, or Java. 2+ years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud). 3+ years working with distributed data/computing tools (MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, EMR, Kafka, Spark, Gurobi, or MySQL). 2+ years designing real-time data and streaming applications. 2+ years implementing NoSQL solutions (MongoDB, Cassandra). 2+ years experience in data warehousing (Redshift or Snowflake). 3+ years proficiency in UNIX/Linux, including shell scripting. 2+ years implementing Agile engineering practices. For example, salaries in McLean, VA range from $161,800 - $184,600, while in Richmond, VA and Wilmington, DE, the salary ranges from $147,100 - $167,900. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for performance-based compensation, which may include bonuses and long-term incentives.
