Job Description This is a hybrid role requiring at least three days a week in Austin, TX. The Role Join our Insights Engineering team, tasked with designing, developing, and enhancing innovative data solutions for global purchasing supply chain (GPSC) and our partners. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a vital role in building and optimizing scalable data assets and pipelines that support Business Intelligence and Advanced Analytics objectives. This senior-level position melds advanced data engineering skills with modern software development practices. You will lead initiatives that create high-quality, production-ready code tailored to customer needs while also improving system performance and maintainability. What You'll Do Assemble complex datasets to meet both business requirements and KPIs. Design and implement process enhancements, focusing on automation and infrastructure optimization for scaling. Deliver data-driven solutions across diverse languages, tools, and platforms. Contribute significantly to architecture design and technology strategy discussions. Create and refine scalable data pipelines featuring intricate transformations and optimized code. Build and develop new integrations from various data sources (files, database extracts, APIs). Implement solutions to ensure data delivery aligns with agreed service levels. Collaborate with operational teams to troubleshoot and resolve platform production issues. Embrace Agile best practices, design thinking processes, and continuous deployment strategies. Develop automation tools to facilitate consistent deployments and enhance production oversight. Work closely with colleagues across business and technology sectors, offering guidance and mentorship. Act as a mentor to peers and junior engineers, promoting awareness of emerging trends and best practices. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 7+ years of experience in data engineering, including proficiency in Python or Scala, SQL, and both relational and non-relational data storage. 3+ years of expertise in distributed data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark) and container orchestration (Kubernetes). Strong skills in data streaming technologies such as Kubernetes and Kafka. Experience with cloud environments, preferably Azure; AWS or GCP are also acceptable. Deep knowledge of CI/CD concepts and tools. Familiarity with big data technologies including Hadoop, Hive, HBase, and Object Storage. Understanding of performance optimization techniques like partitioning, clustering, and caching. Expertise in SQL and familiarity with key-value and document data stores. Knowledge of data architecture and modeling concepts to enhance data consumption efficiency. Exceptional collaboration and communication abilities to work effectively across multiple teams. What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications) Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline. Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, or data quality practices. Experience with schema design and developing data contracts. Familiarity with handling different file formats (video, audio, images). Experience with platforms like Databricks and Snowflake. Proven track record of building robust data ingestion frameworks for a variety of data sources. This role may include relocation benefits. Compensation: The expected base salary for this position ranges from $134,000 to $219,400, influenced by factors relevant to the role. Bonus Potential:
