Role Description
This position is for a Software Quality Assurance Test Engineer. The candidate will ensure software quality by managing test processes, developing testing frameworks, conducting manual testing, and implementing comprehensive testing procedures. This is a contract role with a hybrid work setup that requires periodic presence at the York, ON, office, with some tasks carried out remotely.
Qualifications
Knowledge and experience in Software Quality and Software Quality Assurance processes.
Proficiency in Quality Assurance methodologies and Test Management techniques.
Hands-on experience in Manual Testing methods to ensure software functionality and reliability.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication and collaboration skills for working within a team environment.
Enrollment in or completion of a relevant degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Experience with testing tools and frameworks is a plus.
Requirements:
QA Methodologies: Knowledge of basic QA methodologies (black-box, white-box) and Agile processes in fast-paced development cycles.
Test Case Design: Ability to design effective test cases, including edge cases and compatibility testing.
Test Automation: Experience with automation tools for API and UI testing (Selenium, Appium, Cypress).
Cypress Expertise: Hands-on experience with Cypress for automated web testing.
Version Control: Familiarity with Git for managing test scripts.
Documentation: Knowledgeable in Jira for project and bug tracking.
Performance Testing (Optional): Experience with tools like JMeter or LoadRunner is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Documentation: Understand and document current business processes and requirements.
Test Case Creation: Develop detailed test cases, covering positive, negative, edge, and compatibility scenarios for web and mobile applications.
Collaboration: Work closely with developers and stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure clear communication throughout the development process.
Reporting: Accurately report defects and provide regular updates on testing progress, issues, and risk assessments.
Test Execution: Run manual and automated tests, with a focus on API, functional, regression, and compatibility testing.
Test Environment: Set up and maintain test environments to ensure effective testing across multiple platforms.
Job type: Contractor (6 months with possibility for extension)
Compensation: $20 to $30 per hour (based on experience)
