Solen Software Group is an evergreen holding company that acquires and operates established, high-potential software businesses across a wide range of vertical markets. Our portfolio includes companies in Human Resource Technology, Fleet Telematics, Asset Management, E-Health, Document Management, and other innovative B2B software categories.

Backed by experienced advisors and investors who have built and scaled software companies from 10M to 100M in ARR, Solen is committed to long-term, sustainable growth. We empower each business in our group to strengthen its position as a leader within its niche.

The Role: Financial Accountant

At Solen, we believe exceptional talent drives exceptional outcomes. As our Financial Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate, timely, and audit-ready financial operations across assigned portfolio entities.

You will own the full general ledger and monthly close process, support billing and commission workflows, and partner cross-functionally with Sales, HR, and Operations to maintain alignment between operational and financial data. This role is ideal for a highly detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in structured execution and is eager to grow within a broader finance function.

The successful candidate will work from our Toronto office in a hybrid capacity.

What You Will Do
Firm Leadership

  • Uphold high accounting standards and operational accuracy across assigned entities.
  • Promote accountability, follow-through, and process rigour within the finance function.
Role-Specific Responsibilities
  • Own the full general ledger for assigned entities.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and month-end adjustments.
  • Execute monthly close activities by D+3, including balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Reconcile cost of goods sold by date and vendor, ensuring alignment with vendor invoices and revenue timing.
  • Support quarterly development capitalisation reporting.
  • Manage and support customer billing and accounts receivable processes.
  • Reconcile Statements of Work tracking against professional services billed and timesheets.
  • Support CRM updates to ensure alignment between sales data and financial records.
  • Assist with commission calculations, including:
    • Internal commissions for sales and delivery teams.
    • External commissions for partners and resellers.
  • Manage vendor and supplier onboarding, including documentation and Paystand onboarding where applicable.
  • Support purchase order creation, tracking, and reconciliation.
  • Prepare quotes for purchase orders where required.
  • Perform monthly AP data pulls, such as AP automation tools, and provide reporting to Group Finance.
  • Support sales tax reporting and filings.
  • Prepare and issue 1099s for eligible vendors.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation across financial and operational processes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Sales, HR, Operations, and Group Finance to ensure data integrity and alignment.
  • Support structured processes that connect CRM systems, billing workflows, and accounting records.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Formal accounting education.
  • 2–3 years of private sector accounting experience.
  • Proven experience owning a full general ledger and month-end close.
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Proficiency in Sage Intacct.
  • Highly detail-oriented and deadline-driven.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally without heavy supervision.
  • Legally authorised to work in Canada.
Nice to Have
  • SaaS accounting experience.
  • Service industry accounting experience.
  • Commission calculation experience.
  • Sales tax filing experience.
  • Exposure to multi-entity or private equity-backed environments.
