Who we are

TransEd Valley Line LRT is the first piece of the Valley Line project in Edmonton.  Connecting Millwoods to downtown Edmonton, the valley line allows commuters to go from the South East of Edmonton to anywhere the LRT stops.   

A typical day for the Human Resources Administrator

HR and Administrative 

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee files, records, and HR documentation. 
  • Provide administrative support for the maintenance and upkeep of HR forms, templates, SOPs, trackers and other relevant tools. 
  • Support the administration of employee benefits and leave programs, including STD/LTD claims, leaves of absence, WCB claims, RRSPs, and pension plans. 
  • Provide administrative support across HR functions as required. 
  • Maintain working knowledge of Employment Standards legislation, labour laws, and applicable federal and provincial regulations. 
  • Maintain HR reports and compliance trackers. 

Recruitment  

  • Support recruitment activities including job postings, resume screening, phone pre-screens, interview coordination, interview participation (as requested), and reference checks. 
  • Coordinate pre-employment medical assessments, background checks, and other hiring requirements with vendors and candidates. 
  • Prepare onboarding packages and support HR orientation for new hires. 

Employee Relations 

  • Serve as a first point of contact, alongside the HR Partner, for employee inquiries and concerns, responding with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment. 
  • Support investigations, disciplinary processes, and grievances by coordinating meetings, taking minutes, and compiling documentation. 

Payroll and Timekeeping 

  • Utilize HRIS to assist with timekeeping and payroll administration, including responding to employee inquiries, correcting timecard errors, and recommending solutions. 
  • Prepare overpayment letters and support payroll corrections and adjustments. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn and support additional payroll processing functions as required. 

  What you will bring to the team

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in an HR administrative or coordinator role preferred.
  • Working knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices.
  • Experience supporting payroll and benefits administration is an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency with HRIS and payroll systems (experience with UKG, or similar systems considered an asset).
