Reporting to the Team Lead, the Robot Welder Operator is responsible for and productive operation of our Robotic Welding Cell. Program and operate the robotic welder complete welding processes on fitted assemblies. Completes jobs on time and on target by ensuring schedule is followed and minimizing wastes in day-to-day operations.
Main Responsibilities
- Perform basic programming setup, changes, and troubleshooting of robotic welding systems.
- Safely apply welds per specifications to produce quality finished products.
- Set up I/O structure and manage robot start-up procedures.
- Touch up welder paths and ensure weld consistency and quality.
- Follow direction given in layouts, drawings, and work orders.
- Troubleshoot when a program or fixture does not go right.
- Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams.
- Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications
- Ensures effective equipment maintenance, safety and housekeeping standards are maintained.
- Ensure that the overhead crane is used in a safe manner.
- Weld parts as indicated on blueprints.
- Monitor equipment performance and report any malfunctions or defects promptly.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a regular cleaning schedule to ensure the shop is kept tidy and well organized upon completion of work assignments.
- Ensure racking is kept in an order that work orders are easily accessible.
- Attend toolbox meeting prior to shift

Experience and Education
- Minimum 3+ years of Robotic Welding preferably on a Miller Welding Cell.
- Red Seal/Journeyman Welder with 3-5 years of programming.
- Experience with Yaskawa Motoman Robotics
- Experience with Comarc Plasma Welding
- Prefer to be indentured by AIT
- Valid overhead crane training
- Experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
Working Conditions
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Standing on your feet for a long period of time.
- Have good eye to hand coordination
- Be able to bend, crouch and kneel for extended periods
- Ability to wear personal protective gear most of the day
- Casual work clothes that meet safety requirements (Coveralls provided), PPE required (Steel Toe Boots, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection)
Shift Availability
- Days - Monday – Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm
